The beauty of eyelash extensions is that they are fairly maintenance free.  The best and only way of lengthening the life of your extensions is to practice proper care. By using these very simple aftercare instructions you will receive a long lasting result of your eyelash extension set.

  1. Do not get your lashes wet for the first 24 hours. Let the glue adhere perfectly.
  2. “BIG NO!” to mascara.
  3. ONLY use oil-free eye make-up remover.
  4.  Do not use oil based eye products (including eye shadow and eyeliner) or cream.
  5. Avoid rubbing your eyes or pulling on your lashes.
  6. Do not use an eyelash curler.
  7. Be careful when sleeping, avoid sleeping on the side of your face.
  8. Cleanse the roots of your natural lashes at least 3-4 times a week to eliminate dust, dirt and bacteria from collecting. Simply use  “Johnson’s Baby No More Tears Shampoo” to make some bubbles. Use your fingertips to dab bubbles on the eye lash line. Rinse thoroughly.  Use a piece of tissue (not towel) to gently blot them dry. A gentle brush with your lash brush to separate your lashes and you’re done. Also we have lash cleansers at our studio if you are looking for something more specific.
  9. We recommend to schedule touch-ups every 2-3 weeks to retain the fluffy look.
  10. Please do not wear eye makeup to your appointments.

THE FACT is washing your eyelash extensions plays an integral role in how long they will last. However, there are so many eyelash technicians out there who recommend to avoid water on the lashes which is totally wrong. Eyelash industry is a fast growing industry. The adhesive technology have solved so many issues. The new eyelash extensions’ glue is water friendly. Oil is the only ingredient that will break down the bonding quickly.

As an eyelash specialist I will always advise my clients to wash the roots of lashes regularly using a natural soap or baby shampoo. The most common question is ” Am I going to lose more eyelash extensions by washing them?” the answer is “NO”.

The natural oil of your lashes will be removed by washing them regularly. This oil free environment gives you a better long lasting eyelash extension result. In fact, you do not wash the extensions you cleanse the roots of the natural lashes to eliminate any chance of infection. At the same time, by removing the dead eyelid skin the lash roots will breath better and be nourished more. Nourishing your lashes is as important as your hair and skin.

Let me talk about the eyelash growth anatomy briefly to inform you how important is the “washing your lashes” step.

Eyelashes are short and thick hair which length usually does not exceed 15 mm. Overall, the growth of eyelashes is cyclical. Eyelash growth is very quick, it happens about 3-4 weeks after the loss of the old one. Eyelash growth, as well as its further condition depends on the bulbs. The better nourished and healthier the bulb is, the greater the chances of denser hair around the eyes.

We eyelash technicians love your natural lashes more than anything as they are the only little base to work on. The health of your natural lashes is the most important. Keep washing and nourishing these precious babies.
